How will you use signatories' personal data?

We ask signatories for consent for the purposes you enable:

Publicly display name, city, country, and comment

Hand the information over to the decision-makers

Please provide the decision-makers in the fields below, or simply leave the fields empty if you don’t wish to specify them. We recommend entering only their positions, such as Secretary-General of the United Nations. This ensures that your consent to hand over the signatures remains valid even if the person in that role changes. If you include names, please also mention their positions, as not everyone will know their roles based on names alone.

What we do differently

No blind one-click signing

We don't let people sign based on a headline alone. Signatories always see the petition and the author of it before submitting the signature. One of the largest petition platforms offers one-click signing, but we believe signers should know what they are signing and who created the petition.

We don't use your petition to grow our mailing list.

We only ask signatories for consents for purposes chosen by the petition creator.

Many of the biggest platforms bundle their own marketing consents into the signature form of the petitions they are hosting. You can't opt in to petition updates without also agreeing to their emails.

No automatic user accounts

Some petition platforms automatically create user accounts for signatories. Petitions.com lets people sign petitions without automatically creating an account for them.

Language-specific domains

For the most popular languages on our service, we use language-specific domain names instead of putting every language version under one brand domain. A domain name that matches the language version makes the petition easier to remember and promote.
